(If your FileAnt version is really really old (like 2003) and the updater does not work download the new version above... it will keep your settings)... ..and yes it is free with no catch, except you can usually get newer versions if you register/donate. FileAnt is just a hobby/resume for me and it helps me pay for what FileAnt costs me without digging too deep.... FileAnt is a Windows File Manager (like explorer) on tabs, it is also a cool Ftp Client and has nice features such as folder pie charts, and a viewer for commonly used file formats. It loads quickly from the tray and uses very little memory to achieve what it does. The Ftp Client is semi-intelligent, multi-download (you can keep browsing while downloading lots of files) and written from scratch by me using the winsock. The Pie Chart features 2D telescopic browsing. Advanced tools let you modify file dates, sync folders, and change file attributes en masse. There is also a nice little mp3 player in the tray. FileAnt supports XP themes. FileAnt does not interfere with explorer and does not attempt to do any strange or annoying stuff to your pc. FileAnt will use some of the same settings as explorer, such as 'show extension'. You can configure many extra settings such as background and font colors. It also has some 2000 advanced file manager features, such as thumbnails (which will even work on Win9x). The code behind FileAnt is very tight, I use type libraries and numerous low level testing programs. FileAnt has been designed and tested on Win98se, Win2000, WinXP Home/Pro and 2003 Enterprise Server. Requires Internet Explorer 4 or greater. It should work in Vista, I have looked but not tested yet, you may need to set permissions, etc. What do others say..

Release 20070519 Overhauled ftp a bit. Moved transfer queue under the tree and made it work better (you can use the 'Delete' key on queued jobs, and 'Enter' to resend failed transfers). Made ftp rename compatible with Topfield TF6000pvrt Fixed up the LIST options in ftp. Added Sound to FtpAnt. FileAnt can now open exactly the same as when it last closed. Simplified and enhanced the home button system (Home is now set to what it is when you click the config home menu's, including FTP panels). FileAnt now opens from the tray and/or gains focus if run from its shortcut when it is already running. Enhanced auto-completion in the toolbar to pre-guess folder names. Other small changes. _______________________________________ Release 20040727 Enhanced memory management, FileAnts footprint is now 3-4x smaller and 10x+ smaller in the tray (Note: The main part of FileAnt did always close when closed to the tray, windows was just slow to free memory). Fixed (bug introduced in last version): The view icon menu's always resulted in thumbnails. Fixed: The tab set home panel menu item was wonky. Fixed: Spelling mistake in home menus.
